Controlling one’s cholesterol level has always been a continuous issue. People nowadays are keen and more serious in taking necessary actions to reduce their cholesterol level.

Research and Statistics

Even with the awareness of how important it is to keep the cholesterol level down, research studies and surveys conducted by the American Hearts Association revealed that many adults still have no idea that they are actually at risk in developing certain heart conditions and diseases. Alarmingly, almost half percent of about 200 respondents who are at risk for developing heart diseases do not actually perceive themselves at risk for such heart disease. They may be in denial as of now, but it will hit them later hard rock bottom.

The American Heart Association and National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) have revealed that these individuals will likely be having a reality check, once having developed heart diseases be it in a decade or so. People with certain lifestyle practices and conditions that places them at high risk to develop heart disease within 10 years includes smoking, high blood pressure, existing coronary heart disease and elevated cholesterol. These factors make an individual a candidate for heart diseases in the long run.

The Cholesterol Low Down Program

The findings in the surveys conducted by the American Heart Association have come up with a solution to help minimize the risk of an individual to develop this debilitating condition. A Cholesterol Low Down Program was established to help individuals bring down their cholesterol level and at the same time allow them to understand the disease process. It is ideal that they work hand in hand with their health team partner. That way, a person may be able to have a guide on the accomplishments he or she has made to improve one’s health.

Studies also revealed that many individuals find it much more convenient and more effective if their health provider participates in the program. Regular check-ups, routine laboratory tests are usually done and requested by their physician. A consistent and open communication towards their physician with regards to the risk factors, what to expect, and what to do, allows an upper hand in the accomplishment of this goal. Physician and patient should work together in creating a plan to help reduce cholesterol levels and maintain such at a healthy range.

When a person simply takes the effort to walk, let’s say for example about 2 blocks from their house, this can actually be able to burn off extra body fat. It is a low intensity type of cardio exercise compared to the higher type intensity form of exercise which would entail you to actually run to get those extra fats off.

However, the biggest question then would be which is more effective? Recent studies have shown that during intensive exercise, the body burns out glycogen. Glycogen herein is stored in the liver and in the muscles in the form of stored carbohydrates. It is necessary as it provides energy during low intensity exercises.

When the public heard about this, they resorted to switching their daily regimen form of exercise into simple walking-low intensity type form to burn fats. This would explain that there are still numerous people out there having weight problems, which seems to have trouble getting off those excessive fats off.

Little did these people know that the best, ideal and most effective way to get those fats off is to dig those heels in and start running. This type of high intensity form of exercise would surely be able to work effectively if done as well at a continuous and regular pace. When a person is having high intensity form of exercise, after such regimen, the body actually still continues to burn those calories. It boosts the body’s metabolism burning out excessive fats and calories even if you’re done in the gym or when you’re just taking a break after a long run.

It’s best to integrate both low and high intensity form of cardio exercise. That way the body itself, especially the heart, does not get stressed out too much. Take the time to take turns in doing both: do brisk walking after a jog. Do deep breathing exercises and take time to enjoy the scenery before going and out again for another sprint.

It’s best and advisable to learn to listen to your body. Know when to stop and to listen to what your body is telling you. Mind you, if you keep this exercise regimen at a regular pace, you would be in no time in tip top shape. Those extra fats and pounds would surely be shed off healthily and naturally. Do remember, what you eat plays a vital role as well in the success of your weight loss.
